I just watched a hour long PBS show about 15 or so awesome hot dogs vendors and shacks across the country. I've seen similar shows about hamburgers joints and certainly we have discussed the qualities of a good frank and burger here on chowhound.
Yet very little is ever mentioned about toasting the bread. To me a toasted bun makes all the dif. in the world. A so-so weiner or poorly cooked patty can easily be make superior, by just toasting the darn roll.
Even here in Philly the cheesesteak can be brought to life in the same way?
