I am putting this on the SF board as it's about the one particular store opening in SF, so not really of use to anyone outside the area.
I went to the new store today, and I am quite impressed. It's large, larger than the Northpoint and Geary stores. It has a lot of items, I had to resist quite few things as i had walked to the store. The produce section is larger, as is the meat section. I think the frozen foods section is larger as well.
The rows aren't on a diagonal, like most stores I've been in, it's the standard aisle set up similar to what cala had, but with items in different places.
It has great lighting, and seems quite pleasant. I also found it easy to get around even though it was quite crowded. I didn't see any lines of cars for parking, but I didn't drive there so I don't know what the parking was like, but the Cala that was there had quite a bit of parking.
There was a lot of very helpful staff on hand to help people find things, and explain to some of the locals what was different about TJs from the Cala that had been there before.
As I'm a local i got myself a free bag and have been entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card, which I hope to win.
All in all, I'm happy that there is a new TJs near me, I rarely shopped at Cala so i don't really miss it.
