TitleWork surface for Hoosier cabinet?

ShinyOldLady | Jun 14, 2008 02:19 PM

I am building a Hoosier cabinet reproduction and the porcelain worktop is no longer available ANYWHERE! Anyway, rather than give up, I originally thought I'd get a piece of granite or marble. Problem is that you must screw some drawer supports to the underside of the surface. That means Corian would be an option, but I hear bad things about its durability. If nothing else, maybe a wood counter with a durable laminate that will hold up to lots of work?

Help! I need suggestions. I bake a LOT and will be using this daily, so it's not just for decoration!
