Tiramisu cream that is just yolks, sugar, and mascarpone

I lost my favorite tiramisu recipe. I remember the cream part only contained egg yolks with sugar beaten in, which is folded into mascarpone. No whipped egg whites with stiff peaks, no heavy cream or whipping cream. I wish I could remember the proportion of egg yolks, sugar, and mascarpone.

I dug around on the internet a bit and the only similar looking recipe I could find was Giada's, which calls for 1 lb of mascarpone, 6 yolks, and a mere 3 tbs of sugar. This just seems off balance to me, plus 1 lbs of mascarpone is just too much and too expensive.

Do you have a similar recipe for tiramisu (just yolks, sugar, and mascarpone) that has worked for you before, and if so, can you share it?
