Tips Tri-Tip Trolley [Glen Ellen, Sonoma County]

Melanie Wong | May 19, 201402:03 AM

At last month’s Glen Ellen Block Party, Tri-Tip Trolley set up grills on the main drag to feed hungry wine tasters. The trolley itself was not yet operational, but this was my chance to take a look inside.

The tri-tip is choice grade and supplied by the Glen Ellen Market, cut into large cubes and seasoned with Tips’ proprietary rub. The cubes of beef are grilled to medium rare and served up in sandwich or salad form with slaw and a creamy chipotle dressing.

Grilled corn is available too.

The sandos are huge, packed with more than a half-pound of beef, on a grilled French roll. Here’s the shot from the two guys ahead of me in line.

My Tri-tip salad bowl, $11, was a no less generous serving of juicy, tender meat. The chipotle sauce was a bit too sweet for me, and I’d ask for half the amount next time.

Tips Tri-Tip is a regular at the Tuesday evening Sonoma farmers market with other pop-up locations to be announced.
