It's that time of year...East End Long Island first reports

Finally, time to start nosing around. We went out to Montauk yesterday and decided to try something that is not only old, but new too.....Westlake Clam and Chowder has moved down the street to the old Salivar's building and it is a total knockout! The décor, the food, the outside area, it has it all. They were hopping yesterday, everyone in town must have been there; I sort of hate to think of it mid summer, but I still want to share anyway if you're ever headed out. It's that good!

Westlake always was known for their fresher than fresh fish, but the wait for a table used to be quite long and the interior design was very old school. Not that that's bad! But now, it's tripled the seating, it's open and airy and the waitresses are right on their game. I was really sorry we only planned to stop for some sushi plus some kind of tuna appetizer before reservations for dinner in Easthampton. I'm a nut for Montauk tuna! After we settled in, I would have happily spent the whole night there.

A picture's worth a thousand words, so let me just post a couple. Blackened tuna tidbits, and a tuna and a scallop sushi roll. We will be going back out to Montauk soon, just to go there again.
