Please help. I've been reading old posts and, of course, there are many dissenting votes. We arrive on a Friday evening from SFO and will have dinner and other meals through Monday night. I had heard great things about Commanders Palace as a "must do" but I'm far less certain after my reading here. Lilette sounds good, so do many things. I would like maybe 1 or 2 more expensive dinners and then perhaps bistros or restaurants of the type you frequent when you live in New Orleans! I'm certain I should be making reservations for the weekend as we're arriving November 1 but I also need good places open on Sunday and Monday night. I love "hole in the wall" cuisine for lunch. Don't think I can manage 2 huge meals a day (although Elizabeth sounds great for brunch). I don't want California cuisine for obvious reasons and would love to eat whatever is considered "local"..seems there's controversy over that too. We move on to a few weeks in St. Barths and Anguilla from NO (20th anniversary trip) so Caribbean food is not necessary (as is not blowing my whole food budget in New Orleans!).
Thanks to anyone with an opinion to share.
