I'm returning to NY for a week-long visit after three long years of pining for Lupa. I'm going to have my toddler with me, but I'm hoping to hit at least a few great old favorites. Just wanted to check that nothing on my list has gone woefully downhill. Also, please let me know if there's anything new (though new is relative--I've been away for a LONG time) that I shouldn't miss.
For Italian (god, how I miss decent Italian. what they serve out here in LA is a travesty) I'm getting a babysitter one night and hitting Babbo. Thought I'd also take the toddler to Otto one night. And for neighborhoody Italian, are Frank or Il Bagatto still worth visiting, or is there someplace better I should check out?
Pastis for brunch. El Cid for tapas. And maybe Tartine for bistro-y fare. Anywhere else I could get a good steak frites that wouldn't raise an eyebrow to my 2 yr old if I showed up by 6pm? Maybe Le Zinc?
And in Chinatown, I wanted to go back to New Green Bo--is it still great? Also, was hoping to hit that little custard bun woman with her street cart beforehand--does anyone know what days/times she takes off?
Thank you SO much for your thoughts....
