First time with dried

JennyHunter | Sep 24, 2008 06:40 PM

I like to put hominy in my chili and usually used canned. But I was given a bag of dried hominy by a relative that was appalled that I used the canned stuff. I just pulled the bag out and it says it was packed in August 2006 - is that too old? And what do I do with it? Treat it like dried beans? I am guessing it will take a while to cook and that I shouldn't just add to the chili uncooked. Any advice and other suggested uses would be great.
