time adjustment for halved bar cookie recipe?

I have a bar cookie recipe I want to try, but I want to halve the recipe so I don't waste a bunch of expensive pecans on something we don't like. The original recipe is for a 13x9 pan, a shortbread crust baked for 20-25 minutes, then topped with a filling that's baked for an additional 40-50 minutes. Scaling down the ingredients is no problem, but I'm wondering how much baking time needs to be adjusted for a 9x9 pan. I've been searching the internet for a similar recipe in a 9x9 size, but everything I'm finding is for 13x9.
