Went to Stewarts in Point Pleasant Beach for lunch last week and had absolutely fabulous fish and chips - the fish was as good as any I've ever had on either side of the pond. I also got the fried clam strips but did not like them as much -- too much breading for my taste. The chips are excellent and batter dipped, and the coleslaw was the best I've ever had anywhere. Period. Last time I was there I got a mixed fried platter of shrimp, scallops and fish that was fresh, great and big enough for two. They also serve traditinal Scottish and English fare like pasties, blood sausage, and even haggis if you can believe it. Desserts look good but I've never had the room. The original restaurant is located in Kearny, NJ. This place really is worth a detour for.
