On Thursdays, one of the daily specials at Chef Hung is beef tongue. It's part of their Chinese American diner menu ....... very old school: boiled? until very tender and adorned with a brown sauce. Four generous slices served with a big scoop of rice and boiled cabbage - $7.95 IIRC. Free bowl of house soup ( lotus root/peanut/pork bones), garlic toast and a small portion of red jello served with a properly chilled spoon :~ ) My Mom was able to take half of it home for another meal. I had beef and tofu ( soft ) over rice - which was fine but not special ....... the amount of beef was probably half the volume of the beef tongue ....... lots of creamy tofu ...... primary seasoning was ginger and a brown sauce that was soy/oyster sauce? flavored. No vegetables on this plate ........ it was in the $6 range?
It also came with the free house soup and jello dessert. The daily specials would appear to be the best values ......
