Another Thumbs-Up for Mochica

Two friends and I ate at Mochica last night, and everything was delightful. For appetizers, the friends had a beet and corn salad and a shrimp and mozzarella dish. I had the beef heart anticuchos recommended here. Entree-wise, the vegetarian in the group was very pleased with her rice and vegetable risotto-type dish. She said that the kitchen had packed a lot of flavor into the rice.

My other pal had the ceviche mixta and I had the ceviche mochica. All the fish was super-fresh, tender, well-flavored and well-balanced. None of it had been "overcooked" by the citrus marinade.

We drank pisco sours, which were slightly sweet for my taste, but still refreshing.

The service was friendly, warm and attentive without being overbearing.

My only concern: it was 8:00 on a Saturday night, and the place was not even half full. This is a gem of a resaturant, and I'd hate to see it fail. Go there!!
