I have to disagree with one of Zach's recommendations from an old post (help in Ithaca?). Don't let the Manhattan Deli in the Vestal Town Square Mall fool you. The cook prepares food while smoking cigarettes and he never wears food prep gloves while handling food. I've heard of two different occasions where customers found hair from a preparer's head in their food as well. The silverware is always spotty and only clean if the staff has the chance to catch the spots before setting the table, which doesn't happen often. And the wait staff clean toilets and sinks in between serving customers without washing their hands in between. Why are the wait staff performing janitorial duties? This on top of other questionable practices concerning their employees make me give this deli a very low recommendation. And I'm Jewish and it's too bad I can't find a Kosher deli in the area that cares about its staff or customers.
