God how I love UPS.
On Friday there's a tag on my door. A gift from Dean & Deluca!!
But my excitement gave way to disappointment-- you know UPS... they only deliver during hours when people are not home (i.e. office hours) and so 'next day air' inevitably turns into 3 or 4 day air. This is arguably not a problem when your order is from Amazon.com, but premium scottish smoked salmon from Dean & Deluca (note: with a giant "PERISHABLE" stamp on the top of the box...) it is another matter entirely.
In fact by the time it was delivered to my workplace on Monday, the freezer pack was completely melted, and the fish was warm to the touch.
My question to you-- it is vacuum sealed in an extremely thick plastic, and I am wondering if I should dare give it a try?
Note that I have already called D&D and they are shipping me a fresh one, but I just hate to see food (especially smoked salmon!) go to waste.
Your opinions, hounds?
