Another thread on cake....

Honey Bee | Mar 10, 2008 11:34 AM

I know there have been many discussions about cake on this board. However, recommendations can be hard to understand when they are not quantified. Meaning, someone may say a place is "good", but I don't know what is good to another person. So, I am going to lay out what I am looking for and ask other hounds to give me recommendations on what may be a fit for my particular tastes.

In April, I am having a birthday party. I am usually the resident cake baker, but don't want to mess with it this time around. Here are my criteria:
1. Serves about 30 people
2. No chocolate
3. No fruit or fruit fillings
4. Buttercream frosting
5. I tend to like cakes that some judge as "very sweet". When it comes to cake, I prefer sweet and simple over sophisticated
6. Looks are a distant second to taste
7. Moist

At this point, I am considering Bakerman's, Michelle's Pattiserie, and Sweet Tempered (or something like that?). I have not had any of these cakes and need some help. I am willing to drive as far south as San Marcos and as far north as Georgetown.

EDIT: I am looking for detailed rec's such as, I had the X type of cake at X bakery and it was....

Thanks for taking the time to help me find a great cake!
