We are part time residents of Palm Desert and always on the lookout for decent Italian American home style food. After reading the "Desert Post Weekly" (Nov4-10)
they gave a positive review of a new place in Thousand Palms, the Casa De Pasta. My wife and I tried it tonight and thought it was extremely good. It opened in May with European Culinary trained owner who is Bulgarnian. Running the place is his family, mother, cousin, etc. The restauran in an otherwise plain building is furnished nicely with red checkerboard tablecloths. It isn't small and has about 10 tables in one room and about 6 tables in another. Also there is a private dining room has a large home like wooden table and looks like a house dining room. Also the bar has a few tables.
We ordered the early bird dinner. My wife had eggplant parmesean and I had meat lasagna. These ran $7.95 each and came with either soup (excellent misestrone) or a large mixed salad. The bake their own bread and it comes with an olive oil, vinegar, garlic dipping sauce. They claim that all their food is prepared from scratch and it tastes like it. My lasagna noodles were hand made. It came VERY HOT from the kitchen and had to cool down a few minutes. Also on the menu are the typical items ranging from $7 to the most expensive being Seafood items at $10.95.
It is located at 72-390 Ramon Rd., Thousand Palms. It is about 10 minutes from our house in Palm Desert and is right across the freeway from the Casino at Bob Hope Dr. It is on the North side of the 10 Fwy. Phone is (760 ) 343 1238
