Thoughts on A Table in Fort Greene?

Pedro | Mar 31, 2004 03:29 PM

Someone recommended A Table to me, so I gave it a try on Saturday for lunch. I was extremely disappointed. It ended up being expensive--$100 dollars for 4 people. The food was relatively flavorless. I had the lamb sandwich with curry mayo. The lamb was dry and chewy. The accompanying salad was wilted. The food didn't taste fresh at all. There were barely any fillings in any of our sandwiches. I know a skillfully built sandwich when I taste one. This was not it. Especially since the quality of the ingredients was poor. I'm thinking maybe dinner might be better there, but I'm reluctant to try it. Anyone else have a similar experience there?

On a side note, is anyone else sick of French-kitsch themed restaurants? Can't we enjoy French food without the faux decor? Enough with the absinthe posters, distressed furniture and wine-case tables.
