Any thoughts on my plan? Anything else?

Hello great wise minds of the New Orleans Chowhound board. (yes I am buttering you up -- but you do know far more than I do about New Orleans -- and I do appreciate the help.)

I am coming to your fair city for a conference in a little over a week (Yippee!) and my dinners are set. I am going to Upperline, Bayona, Mr. B's, and Cochon for dinner. I am doing Sunday brunch at Commander's Palace.

I really want to get a fried oyster po boy for lunch one day. The last time I was in New Orleans (16+ years ago) I went to the Acme Oyster Bar. I know some folks here say it is a tourist trap. Should I go there or is there another place to go instead? I won't have a car and I am staying at at the Hilton Riverside.

My coworker and I would like to hear some jazz and get a drink (or two). Are there places without cover charges that you could recommend? My coworker and I are on limited budgets. Our work per diem is $56 a day.

I am hoping to have time to wander the French Quarter, visit the French Market area and have fun.

Thanks for all your help!
