My boyfriend and I are visiting Chicago for the first time from June 6-10. I've been reading all the recommendations on this board (so much great information!!) and have created a pretty full schedule of restaurants to hit up including Fronterra Grill, Longman & Eagle, Purple Pig, Lou Malnatis, Hot Doug's (which we are set on going to despite the hassle to get there), Girl & the Goat and the Publican as well as quick joints like Portillos, XOXO for churros and Garretts Popcorn. We also plan to visit the Maxwell St. market early on Sunday morning before we leave as the food vendors look fantastic.
I've noticed that there are 3 different street fests the weekend we're in town: Midsummarfest in Andersonville, Ribfest and the Chill and Grill in Waveland Park. Does any one have any thoughts on whether it would be worthwhile to make our way to any or all of these events? We have a pretty full and ambitious food schedule as it is, and I was wondering if it was worth cutting some of the above restaurants, which all seem to get great reviews from people on this board, in favour of grabbing a meal and spending time at any of the street fests instead.
