Some thoughts on LA CREPERIE CAFE (Upper East Side)

A fellow Chowhounder recommended La Creperie Cafe to me for my croque monsieur and crepe craving.

Unfortunately, the croque monsieur was very disappointing -- the cheese felt like it was thrown on top of the bread as an afterthought. (It seemed as if they used a microwave to melt the cheese; by the time the sandwich got to my table, the cheese was a small rubbery lump -- yuck!)

The dessert crepes were a little better. I had the Madame Suzette crepes, flambayed with Grand Marnier. It was served with fresh whipped cream on the side. The hazlenut coffee was good too.

Maybe the place is worth it if you happen to be in the neighborhood and craving crepes (sweet or salty). They are at Lexington (btwn 77 & 78). But not worth going out of your way for. And STAY AWAY from the Croque Monsieur!
