Thanks for your response. We’ve tried your various recommended spots. The Grand Asia Market in the Burlington Coat Factory Mall indeed takes the cake. The other market you mention – the one near Southern Season – is called Silver Wok.

We’ve been to Hong Kong Restaraunt for dim sum. It does run to the authentic, but frankly we didn’t find it terribly good. If by “B joint” you meant “B-grade joint” then I quite agree with you. We’ll certainly return to try dinner.

The folks at the Asian Market in Durham directed us to China Palace on Garrett Road. The standard menu is pretty Americanized, but they offer a more Asian-inflected lunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays. We had a decent Saturday lunch of zhajiang mien (noodle in spicey meat sauce), paper-wrapped chicken, and won-ton soup. It wasn’t much, but it was something.

I’m afraid the Triangle is going to prove poor pickings for us lovers of Chinese food.
