In the 2011 national Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition, Senior's scooped the "best in the north west". No mean feat in itself - we pride ourselves on our fish & chips - having pioneered the first properly documented one in 1863. They went on to come third in the national finals.
And you can see why.
A generous portion of haddock. Bitingly crisp batter with no trace of oiliness. Chips fried to a lovely golden colour. Peas - mushy but with substance.
All the accompaniments you'd want and expect. But who needs more than a little salt and a lot of vinegar. And a slice of over-buttered pappy white sliced bread for the chip butty.
Of course, you wouldnt go a long way out of your way for a chippy - but we made the excuse for the hour's drive to do some shopping at the outlet mall in Fleetwood. If you're in the area, then go. If you're in the area for a day or so, then go - then try the nearby Thornton Fisheries (a recent national "third best")
