I have been to Rosa Mexicano twice and both times I have been underwhelmed by the experience.
The last time I was there I had to add salt and lemon juice to the guacamole because it was so bland! I hardly ever add salt to my food at the table, I was very disappointed.
For the main dish I had steamed lamb (the one they wrap in paper). I was very hungry that night, however, I was unable to eat more than a few bites. I didn't like the taste of the lamb at all.
I am mystified by people who claim Rosa Mexicano is so good. Have I been plagued by bad luck both times I have been there?
Service was good, and the view can be quite nice if you get one of the tables by the windows with views of Lincoln Center. In spite of all that, I couldn't recommend them unless you are only looking for a pretty place and don't care much about food.
I can't justify spending that kind of money on what at best can be described as extremelly bland and mediocre food. What are your thoughts?
