It's not that I only eat food recommened by Thi, but he does do such a good job of recommending things. So Thi, thanks for the Dr. Praeger's vegeburger rec. The first one I had tasted inexplicably and horribly of metal, like a sheet of aluminum foil had been baked in. I soon found out that I had had a bad reaction to a homeopathic medication and my taste buds were ruined for an entire week, coming perilously close to Thanksgiving. I tried again when they were recovered and they're great! I just ate one and I'm craving another. Think I might need to try the next with cheese to up the protein quotient a bit. Jack, maybe?
But then there's Juon Yuon (Chinese place recently written up in Gourmet). There were only two of us, always a bad thing for Chinese, but I'm afraid the fish slices in rice wine tasted like bland babyfood to me. The spareribs in lotus leaf were ok and so was the chopped green stuff with tofu skin, but the meal just lacked sauces and flavors in general. But then, you redeemed yourself again with Bin Bin Konjac. My boyfriend was pleased and mystified by his mango drink, I was happy with my green tea konjac, and the free samples of coffee jello konjac rocked. Did you know they have locations in San Gabriel, Rowland Heights, Arcadia and Artesia? Keep up the tasting!
