I've been needing a new thermometer for making candy. Mostly caramels and marshmallow. I came across the ThermoWorks open box sale and picked up a ChefAlarm - but then in reading many websites people say not to use this type - you should use an instant read. I've always used either the grocery store cheapie bulb type or the slightly better flat style thermometers and had no problems with not being able to stir because of the thermometer.
What do folks here use?
