Thep Phenom-no good.

I am a native San Franciscan and am partial to Asian cuisine. I tried this place only because of reading the various reviews online. It is not bad, but not great either. We ordered 3 dishes and some wine. About $70 for 2 people.

1. Seafood Curry
2. Tong Yum Soup
3. Rib eye with curry sauce

Food was bland bland bland. I suspected the food was "toned" down to fit the clientele there. Yes, the food was fresh, but no taste! The soup just tasted sour. I did not taste any lemon grass or the galanga ginger.

The curry was quite lite and watery and again not much taste or flavor. This was especially true of the calamari and shrimp.

The rib eye was tasty but nothing special. The sauce they put on top of it tasted kind of like thousand island salad dressing.

I guess when I was in Thailand a few times, I expected the same explosion of spicy, sour, sweet, and lots of herbs. The 3 dishes we has all tasted "watered down".

Honestly, I enjoyed the Thai restaurant located on corner of Polk and Broadway many times more.
