As some may know, I am a big fan of Canele'. A friend took me for my birthday Sunday night and we had another terrific meal. There are two appetizer specials running currently that are must haves:

First, the Brandade with Tomato Confit is back. This was so good, the LA Times did a feature on it:

It was as rich and creamy and salty and decadent as always.

The new addition to the specials list was a chorizo appetizer. It came in the same earthenware bowl as the brandade, with chorizo, potatoes, other spices and a fried egg, sunny side up, on top. Wow. This is one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. Spicy, wonderful comfort food at it's best.

For dinner, we shared the beef tenderloin and the lamb, with a side of greens. If you are a fan of Canele' or have never tried it, this would be a great time to go.
