Theatre district--Yoshinoya #1000

We were hungry and in an incredible hurry so we ducked into Yoshinoya (42nd between B'way and 8th) last night and ordered 2 vegetable bowls. The veggies were springy but formerly frozen (what was I expecting, really?) and totally lackluster, served on top of rice. They were made palatable by scads of pickled ginger and soy sauce. You couldn't beat the price for dinner for two; $8.

Of course everyone around us ordered the beef bowl which is probably what you're supposed to get there. Are the beef or chicken worth going back for?

If you only have 10 minutes to pack something in before the New Victory Theatre show,it sure beats McD's.
