DC Chowhound coming to NYC in a couple of weeks for a getaway weekend -- 1st time husband and I have gone off for a weekend without our preschooler in about six months. Staying at the Sofitel near Times Square, seeing Wicked and Wonderful Town, and going to Iridium's jazz brunch with John Donough of Schoolhouse Rock. Going to the Strand if I can fit it in.
I'm looking for recommendations for a Saturday night pre-theatre dinner, before going to the Gershwin. I looked on the board and saw that Trattoria Trecolori was a favorite. Since my half-Italian husband bemoans the fact that we can't get really good Italian in D.C. without going very upscale, it sounds like a winner. Are there other good choices, in case Trecolori is booked? How early should we book to comfortably make it to an 8 p.m. show (rushing would take the fun out of the evening) -- 6 p.m.?
Thanks very much for your help!!
