Thanksgiving Sibling Problems

outRIAAge | Nov 17, 201607:07 PM     32

Come, one and all, and rant. My sister invited me to join her at a potluck Thanksgiving dinner. She asked if I could make tomatoes stuffed with shrimp and mushrooms as her contribution, which was fine by me because she has no understanding of food at all.

I told her that as I was 100 miles away, she'd have to do the shopping. When I got there, we only had an hour, and I was presented with bulletproof gray supermarket tomatoes, canned shrimp (those pointless little pink commas), and canned mushrooms.

I managed to pull it off. I lit some charcoal, returned the sorry ingredients, replaced them with real ones, grilled the shrimp and mushrooms, and stuffed them into actual tomatoes. I crowned each one with a head-on whole grilled shrimp, and sister went "eewww..."

(At least that time she didn't suggest that what I'd made needed a Flavo-Pak.)
