Thaijindesu Expands (Well) to Williamsburg

Had lunch yesterday at Thaijindesu, a newly opened Thai and sushi restaurant in New Town at the site of the former Thai Pot next to Buon Amicii. This is the second location of my favorite Newport News Restaurant, located in Port Warwick. Reassuringly, owner Ken, a Thai native and professionally trained sushi chef, was onsite supervising every detail of food preparation and quality. As a Williamsburg resident, glad I won't have to drive so far for excellent Thai and sushi. The Japanese and Thai menus are both extensive (Japanese entrees as well as sushi, and Thai ranging from classics like papaya salad, pad Thai, and curries to original preparations that are interesting and tasty), the wait staff is customer-focused and eager to please, the atmosphere is upscale and comfortable at the same time, and the kitchen executes well. A Williamsburg resident, I will be dining here often. Interesting to see the transformation in Williamsburg for people who like Asian food from Chez Trihn only (truly sad to see it close) to four quality local offerings. None surpasses this one for Thai.
