After a long time away, I visited Thai Square and they have really updated the place nicely. New lights, decor, more open feel. Very nice. But I stopped coming a couple years ago because the food had taken a slight but noticeable dip in quality and spicieness.
Well, they are back on their game. I have worked my way through 3 of my old favorites and they are all back to their old quality. My favorite dish here has always been the spicy and slightly sweet crispy squid with basil. It is a little sweeter than I like but a very good dish. The next visit I tried my old faithful, pork noodle soup. It always starts a trifle bland so you have to touch it up with a little vinegar and few of the green chilis, take a taste and then a touch of the red chili paste. I really like the simplicity of this dish. I usually order it with the thin noodles, tried the wide this time. I think thin noodles are better!
Finally, on a cold day I went back for their floating market soup. I love it, from the pork rinds to the pork balls to the extra protein sources that shall remain nameless, this is a rich and warming dish.
Hmm... I have never seen the display photos as thumbnails vs. full width before. Guess I will try full width.
