Here's the scoop. We are blessed with a lot of Thai restaurants in the area. We are also blessed with lots of Chowhounds, all with different opinions and favorites.
One of our biggest ongoing debates seems to be where to get the best Thai food.
So let's bring it on and figure out which Thai restaurants are really tops! We'll figure out which 3-6 restaurants show up the most often on people's list of favorites and schedule a series of lunches. We will pick several classic Thai dishes that every restaurant should have and taste them at every place, plus additional dishes pulled from menus through the usual Chowlunch negotiation techniques. We'll post our results. (And yes, I know, chances are we will end up deciding they're all great, but I'm willing to take that chance.)
Most likely, no one will be able to make it to all the lunches in the series, but we'll have lots of good Thai food and plenty of fun.
You have until January 15 to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the following:
*Your top 4 (you can submit fewer) Thai restaurants IN RANK ORDER. Please include general location since we have some name overlaps and some multi-location restaurants.
*Your suggestion for 3-4 classic dishes including appetizers
*best/worst weekdays for chowlunches for you.
****whether you are interested in being the "host" at one of your nominated restaurants**** Hosting means you pick the day and time, gather the headcount via email after we do a public invite on the board, and warn the restaurant that we will have a party of 15 for lunch.
Please make sure the subject line of your email has the word "Thai" in it somewhere so my Spam filter doesn't confuse it with ads suggesting I can enlarge organs I don't even possess.
I'll post the results, not only for the top few that we will try for chowlunches, but also the entire list of submissions, by number of votes. The lunch series will be announced with a week or more advance notice per restaurant.
