The best Thai dessert in Queens isn't at Sripraphai

It's come down to this: Banana Sticky Rice dessert at Sripraphai vs. Mango sticky rice dessert at Ubol's Kitchen. There's been some slight debate about that here in the past. In all pre-dessert areas there is no contest, Sripraphai is by far superior. But now, having had the Sripraphai dessert twice, and the Ubol's dessert four times, I can safely proclaim Ubol's the winner - their Sweet coconut rice with mango is, in my opinion, the best dessert in New York City. The lovely waitress explained to me that they were surprised to be able to find fresh, sweet mangos throughout this year (usually they offer this dessert only in summer). The dessert consists of a heart-shaped mound of sticky coconut rice, a whole sliced mango, and a not-too-sweet, slightly salty, creamy coconut sauce which links everything together in blissful synergy. Once the sauce was more than slightly salty - it was too salty - and the dessert didn't work, but when it's on, and it usually is, it's purely and totally transcendent. The Sripraphai banana sticky rice dessert is also extremely good, but is not quite so cathartic for me. It also tends to have more to live up to, considering the quality of the meal it usually follows. (Don't get me wrong, the savory dishes at Ubol's are in fact quite good, but that's all - this point has been rehashed here a gazillion times. A gazillion and one now).
