Thai Chef Noodles

Dennis M | Jan 28, 2005 01:50 PM

Am reporting back on North Dupont neighborhood lunch quest. Coworkers and I hit Thai Chef on Connecticut today for their lunch noodle soup special. They offer five or six variations, all for $5.95. Tried the egg noodle with 5-spice duck, rice noodle in lemon grass broth with chicken and peanut, and chicken/shrimp dumplings with egg noodles and roast pork (I can never remember the Thai names, mea culpa).

All very good. Nice, fresh noodles, savory not too-salty broths, the dumplings were very flavorful, pork was a little fatty but that does not really bug me, duck was good too. Portions were generous but not overfilling.

An interesting note. They'll do just about anything as takeout except these soups. They guy said they don't travel well and quality suffers. I didn't think he was scamming me. I don't have any idea how the rest of the menu is but we all gave the soups a big thumbs up for quality and value.
