My Thai

Jo | Apr 9, 2006 08:17 AM

My Thai was recently featured in the Inquirer as an allergy friendly restaurant so we decided to give it a try. They are located at 22nd and South.

We called yesterday and were able to get a reservation for the same day. We arrived promptly at 7 and were seated immediately. The dining room is lovely, rustic with exposed brick on one wall. Although the restaurant was full it was quiet enough for normal conversation.

We were amazed at the prices. Many entrees were $12-$14.

The apps - we shared a special salad with shrimp and another with chicken. Both were excellent. Unfortunately that is where the good food ended.

For dinner we shared a special duck dish, pad thai and beef with ginger.

The quality of both the beef and duck was terrible. They must have used the worst possible cut of beef that they could find. The preparation was ok but it was tough (no pun intended) to eat.

What is with the pad thai? This is the second thai restaurant that served a tasteless pad thai preparation. The other was Trio in Fairmount. I guess I am spoiled by the renditions served at Siri's and the thai place in the reading terminal.

Anyway after the entrees we didn't risk dessert. We stopped at Capagirio for some wonderful gelato. My newest favorite flavor is dark chocolate with candied orange peel. Yum.
