I am trying a new recipe for "Texas Red" and it call for 3 ancho chili pods to be steeped in water after removing the seeds and stems. Later in the recipe, it calls for adding the broth that contains the chili pods slowly. My assumption is to steep them whole. My question is do I leave the pods in whole, dice them up or pull them out after? The recipe doesn't address this and I'm a definate amateur so any advice would help. Thanks!
