After reading several comments about the Lombard Texan I linked to the web site and was also amazed that the Algonquin location was not listed. I immediately picked up the phone and called the Algonquin Texan. Rib fans rejoice...the Algonquin site is still alive and well under the same owner. At 11:00 am the staff was already busy with the lunch crowd. Staff members informed me that there has been a schism in the family. Hence, the Lombard site is similar but not connected to the Algonquin Texan. I called my favorite foodie family (Wally & Gail the-dog-people) who reported that they had just eaten at the Algonquin Texan and noticed a sign change. (The word "Real" is missing from the sign.) They also mentioned that the food was as good as ever. I started salivating (it's a Pavlov thing) for ribs and brisket and arranged a Friday night rib fest. To rib fans ...how does the Lombard Texan compare to the "original" Algonquin Texan?
