Reminder that chowhounds are meeting Sunday at 6pm. You are welcome to come. Here's Avi's posting. The Taiwanese restaurant lacks a liquor license, but it's okay to brink your own. They'll provide an ice bucket if needed.
A reminder and an invitation:
All you chowhounds are invited to join a group outing to the Taiwanese Cuisine Restaurant, in Houston, on June 1st.
We'll meet to encourage one another as we explore the unique and sometimes strange but always alluring world of authentic Taiwanese food.
This promises to be a fun event as the restaurant we picked offers a wide array of food that is gauranteed to make you homesick for Taipie. Roasted pork tongue, deep fried crispy intestine, seafood coffin, four treasure soup, sauteed porky floret, spicy and curry fish, and five flavor squid are just some of the feast we'll try (As well as more conventional stuff). And, for the the really, really brave: funky bean curd!
The prices range from cheap to cheaper to funny, so dress casually and bring cash, as no credit cards are accepted. We will simply split the bill by the number of diners - probably $12 or so each.
Let's meet at 6 PM on Sunday June 1 at TAIWANESE CUISINE RESTAURANT (Not to to be confused with the smaller restaurant next door called Taiwanese Food), 9338 Bellaire Blvd. That's 2 blocks east of Beltway 8 in the Diho Center. Call my cellular if you get lost: 713-498-0792
So far there are 6 of us; we look forward to seeing you there!
