Hey! So I'm trying out a sponge cake recipe for my boyfriend's birthday & I want to see how it tastes as its original lemon self, & how it does with some cocoa powder. I'm not really excited about making two whole cakes only to test the flavors, though, so I was wondering about making smaller batches of batter & making two cupcakes as testers. I know this won't create perfect samples, given bake time, size of the cups, etc. but I prefer it to baking two full cakes that I need to get rid of after tasting. Has anyone done this? Does this sound crazy?
