As Spankaccount mentioned last month, the horribly disgusting (my words) Cuerna Vaca that had been on the corner of Colorado and Los Robles in Pasadena for at least the past decade has recently been replaced by Terrace Restaurant.
My friend and I decided to go for lunch last Friday after reviewing the menu that I had picked up earlier in the day.
Upon entering the restaurant I first noticed that it has been COMPLETELY changed. No more ghetto-ripped-droopy booths and greasy, gloppy food. Now it is very lounge-y and dark. Oh, and comfortable!!
The menu items range from several appetizers: coconut shrimp, calamari, hot wings, spinach & artichoke dip, mozzarella and zucchini sticks, beer battered fries, etc. that range in price from $5.50 - $14.75 for the sampler platter. Several salads to chose from house (mixed greens tomato, cukes in a balsamic vinaigrette), apple walnut, Caesar, Southwestern, Greek and tofu that run from $4.25 - $7.25; Soups: French Onion & Clam Chowder $4.50/bowl; Sandwiches: Pastrami Reuben, Grilled Chicken, Turkey Bacon, Turkey & Cranberry, French Dip, Meatball, BLT, Tuna that all come a la carte on La Brea Bakery bread (from $5.25 - 6.75) - you can order for $1.50 extra a side of potato or macaroni salad, or for $2.50 a side salad or fries. Wraps (all in Spinach tortillas and $5.50) - Caesar or Hawaiian Chicken or the 443 (basically a regular chix breast wrap w/ LT and cukes w/ Cucumber Ranch Sauce).
Pastas - Spaghetti Marinara, Fettuccini Alfredo, Seafood Linguini and Ravioli and Pesto ($6.75-10.75). Entrees include Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Marsala, Dijon and Panko Crusted Salmon, Salmon Picatta, Blackened Shrimp, Shrimp Scampi ($9.50-13.50).
When we walked in, there were 2 occupied tables. There are booth benches all along the west wall on which the other side of the tables there are chairs. These tables and chairs are well spaced. Not sure how comfy the chairs were, but the booth bench was nice and cushy.
Service was good, although there was only one server. Food took a little while to come out which was okay since I was in good company. I ordered the Clam Chowder. I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was more creamy vs. chunky and just really good. It came with 1 slice of grilled bread cut in half and laying in it. SO GOOD! I also ordered the French Dip with the side salad which I really liked. It came with cheese and a side of good horseradish spread on it on a French roll. I would get it again.
Friend ordered the Turkey and Cranberry sandwich with their fries. It is sliced turkey with alfalfa sprouts with a cranberry cream cheese spread on a choice of white of wheat. He would get it again. I have to say that those fries were great. I thought they were really well seasoned and tasted really good.
It is nice to have another option in Pasadena ;-) that is not in Old Town where you can drop in and just relax and not feel rushed. They also have a bar towards the back on the east wall. Not sure if it is a full bar yet or not.
The older women who were sitting at a table near us both ordered the Chicken Marsala and deemed it "delicious".
I will be going back for that clam chowder soon!
