Went to Terra tonight (early!) with my family. I loved the place. Nice ambience (even though it is in a shopping mall) with a almost funky italian feel, excellent service and very memorable food. It is certainly not inexpensive, but you can eat there reasonably if you do not order 3 bottles of wine like we did (hey there were 6 of us! Ok only 3 adults but we brought 3/4 of a bottle home!).

I ordered the Bistecca which was magnificent. It was pre-sliced in the Tuscan tradition-although it was a strip steak and not the traditional porterhouse. It was served with a sherry-onion marmalade like sauce that I would buy by the case. Just wonderful. Others in the group had: giant pork chop, spaghetti with veal meatballs, pizza margherita and a seafood rissotto that was magnificent.

Very professional and attentive (without overdoing it) service. I don't know if the wait staff was imported for the early days of the restaurant (it is a sister restaurant of Greenwich place) to draw us all in, I am hoping not.

I have never recommended a restaurant that has only been open for 4 weeks that I have only been to once, but I would say, check out Terra if you are headed to Canton, CT.
