Tenderizing a processed Turkey

CeeWM | Nov 18, 201910:00 AM     5

Ok, so I’m broke and cooking for 12. I sucked it up and got the $5 Safeway bird, it’s 20lbs. Package claims it is 1240mg sodium per lb. is this considered pre brined? I’m considering my options, I typically brine a freshy and I’m willing to soak this one. Also I have fridge space to dry rub. I wonder if I just rub it in spices and let it sit to thaw will it be tender enough? I hate stringy turkey. I like the “overbrine texture” I’m also considering using pineapple juice. I also plan too inject unsalted herb butter before cooking. What do you think would be the best method for this bird? I will be oven roasting.
