Ill be spending ten days in Montreal (first visit) at the beginning of September. Based on my research on the board and elsewhere, heres my resto schedule:
Mon Chez LEpicier
Tue La Chronique
Thu Laurie et Raphael (Quebec City)
Mon Cocagne or Les Heretiers
Tue Les Chevres
Wed - Brunoise
Au Pied de Cochon is missing intentionally. I was torn, as it seems to be the most talked about resto in Montreal. But, much as it may tarnish my claim to being a chowhound, Im not a big fan of foie gras
or, for that matter, huge portions of food, which seems to be an APDC signature
Well also be squeezing in lunch at Schwartzs and Olive & Gourmando; baked goods at Cheskie Heimishe Bakery (per Gourmets recommendation); bagels at St. Viateur and Fairmount; and a couple of recommended chocolatiers.
So, my questions to all are, what do you think of my restaurant itinerary? Am I missing anything major? Are there too many fancy places? Would you re-arrange the order or make any substitutions? And is Brunoise the best choice for our last night in town? Someplace special/maybe a little romantic would be a nice way to end our trip...
Im also a little concerned about prices have I chosen too many "$200+ for two" meals? I dont really mind spending, but if I can economize without sacrificing quality (of food and service), all the better Thanks, Chowhounds!
