First, many thanks for all the input on holiday gift giving liqueurs to bring back to the US. We gave a lot of Amer Picon and Elixir Vegetal and some Havana Club and people really liked them.
In return, we got a bottle of the above mentioned and tried to make our first Aviation. Mixed results (no pun intended). I understand the liqueur de violettes is less sweet than a creme de violettes, but I'm not clear on how much less having never had a creme. Anyone using the Tempus Fugit Liqueur de Violettes in Aviations? If so, any input on how much simple syrup should be used to make it comparable to using one of the good creme de violettes? We've done "to taste" but were hoping to approximate the original recipe at least once to see how it's meant to be. If anyone's used both your input would be much appreciated!
