Tempura find in Oakland, Coach Sushi

Hi all. I just stumbled across Coach Sushi on Grand Ave (532 Grand), where Mr. Sushi used to be. The ebi tempura was very nice to my pedestrian gringo-japanese palette. Light and airy thinly battered, ever-so-slightly crispy. The tentsuyu sauce was typical, slightly above room temperature. The ebi was arranged in a symmetrical teepee pattern and served with a very warm greeting (and a origami swan to boot). I wasn't quite as impressed with the Hamachi Nigiri, as it had a bit more blood-line than I expect, but this could be a cultural preference. The Mafia roll however proved a nice blend of scallion, gari (ginger) and well proportioned mackerel. A complimentary cup of Wheat tea paired nicely with the salty fish. But the real star of the evening was the ebi tempura, Bravo Coach! Now next time don't follow me out the door and wave goodbye, it creeps me out! ;)
