Finally had dinner at Tempo on Moody St. this weekend. I've been there twice for drinks and really wanted to try the food. We started with the onion rings, just had a craving. It was served with homemade ketchup, which was pretty good. The rings were cut pretty thin with a light batter and not too greasy. For dinner I ordered the skirt steak which came with roasted fingerling potatoes and butternut squash. Pretty good overall, but I kept thinking that something was missing. I added some salt and it improved. Maybe just under seasoned. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp dish. I believe it came with rice and asparagus and some sort of sauce with veggies? I wasn't paying much attention. I did have a bite and it was pretty spicey. I should have read the description on the menu, but I was in the mood for meat, so I skipped right over it. For dessert we split a piece of cheesecake. Good, but not the best I've ever had. The cheesecake had peanutbutter and chocolate in it, which is one of my favorite combinations.
Overall I'd say the food is good, but I thought the pricing was a little off. There were some good values on the menu...a chicken dish with almond and panko crust, potatoes and some sort of veggie for around $15-$16...a veggie lasagna for $14, a big burger (says Kobe beef, but I sort of doubt it) with fries for $10. However, my steak was priced at $22 and the shrimp dish was $24. Seemed high for what we got. I would definitley eat there again and I enjoy the bar, but I would probably order a burger or some chicken with a good beer or cocktail. There is also a porterhouse steak on the menu (not beef, maybe lamb or pork?, I can't remember) that I saw someone order at the bar that looked really good. The place was pretty packed and kind of loud on Friday, but we enjoyed ourselves.
