Tempest in Rolling Hills

Now I am no officianato, but if you are looking for a Manhattan (New York) meal within fifteen minutes of Manhattan (California), try Tempest in Rolling Hills [310 891 0148]. Despite its unlikely location in a Rolling Hills shopping center, Tempest could hold its own with any meal I've had in New York or LA - without the 212 or 213 area code pricing. The vibe of the place is somewhere between elegant and hip, and the overall experinece will make you forget you are still in suburbia. They are new and small and in someways it shows, but I suspect they will work out the kinks. In any event, it was clearly worth the drive from LA, and should be a hit with a South Bay set not willing to fight the 405 north just to get a decent meal with a metropolitan feel. Cheers.
