Teenager's First Trip to London - Restaurant Advice

This is the first trip for our 17 year old outside of the country. He is a budding foodie.

I'd like advice on an impressive restaurant for dinner that is not stuffy (he and my husband will wear slacks and collared shirts), is at least a little fun, not exorbitantly expensive and features British food/local ingredients. I always seem to fall back on The Ivy or The Wolseley for other first-timers, so I think I should broaden my restaurant horizon.

I think I should also take him to an Indian restaurant while there. Something low key and great. Advice?

We will be staying in Earls Court, without a car and will likely take the underground, but no problem taking a cab if necessary.
